So Drew Henson is gone....now what? What does this mean to the University of Michigan Quarterback situation? Well, this of course, is not good. However, it is also, not as bad as people think. Michigan returns sophomore QB John Navarre who started the first 3 1/2 games for the Wolverines last season while Henson was out with a foot injury. Although it was against sub-par competition, it was LIVE competetion, and that means a lot to a young quarterback. Navarre looked good in those games, his only trouble coming in the 2nd half at UCLA. Navvare completed 51.9 % of his passes for 581 yards, and 8 TDs to only 1 INT. He should be the starter this fall when the Wolverines take the field. "He's got the work ethic, and that says a lot about a player," Henson said Saturday. "He's got a great arm, and he moves around well enough -- that's what you do at Michigan. They're not going to roll us out. They'll move us a little bit, but they want us to drop back in the pocket. He's big, he's physical, he's going to take a pounding if he has to. "And the only thing he lacks, just like I did a year ago, is experience. I don't know if me getting hurt was good or not, but at least it gave him a few starts to prepare. And if he didn't have that coming into next season, I think it would be a little bit different, but he's been through it and I think those experiences will help him."

Jermaine Gonzales and Andy Mignery will challenge to be Navarre's backup, but there will be a new quarterback in the mix -- Spencer Brinton, a transfer from San Diego State who just completed a two-year Mormon mission. Carr accepted Brinton's transfer without ever meeting him or seeing him play in person. Brinton, however, is not participating in spring practice and will not arrive on campus until late April or early May.
"I talked to a number of people that I respect on the West Coast, and watched film of him extensively of his freshman year at San Diego State," Carr said recently. "I just like what I saw, I like what I've heard. So, what I know is he's got wonderful ability, a good student, good size and a good arm. I like what I know about him, but until he gets here, until I see him under fire, I can't tell you."
