The Detroit Lions have agreed to a two-year contract with free agent cornerback Todd Lyght, formerly of the St. Louis Rams.  Lyght, 6-0, 190 lbs, is a 10 year NFL veteran. A Flint native, Lyght was the Rams' first round selection (fifth overall) in the 1991 NFL Draft from Notre Dame and was selected to the 2000 Pro Bowl following the Rams' win in Super Bowl XXXIV over Tennessee.

This changes my first round pick for the Leos! For those that saw my Mock Draft, I had them taking CB Fred Smoot out of Mississippi State. Check back this weekend to see who I have them taking now!

Other News and Notes

A sore knee has forced quarterback Charlie Batch to cut back on his off season workouts. He has continued his weight training, but has been unable to do quarterback drills for two weeks. Head Honcho Matt Millen said they hope Batch's knee will heal on its own without surgery. "He's down there lifting all the time," Millen told ESPN Wednesday. "He's getting stronger. But he isn't able to do anything with his leg for the last couple of weeks."  So that's what was behind the Mark Brunell rumors a couple of weeks ago! If I'm Matt Millen, I'm doing whatever I can to find a new QB. Charlie Batch can't even go an entire off season without getting injured. Granted, when he's healthy, he's a pretty good QB, but he has yet to be healthy for a full season. The Lions need to draft a good QB, and get him ready because he is going to play this season! Jim Harbaugh can't shoulder the load for more than a game or two at a time. Drew Brees is looking better and better here, and I don't want to hear about his arm strength and whatever else you want to knock on him, the guy is a winner, and he is a perfect fit for the West Coast Offense the Lions are installing this season.

Draft day is less than a week and a half away!
Tell me what you think on the Message Board!!!
